Communication Research - Hammond Campus

A guide for communication research at Purdue University Northwest

Need books not owned by the PNW Library?

If you need a book that the Library does not own, the Library will borrow it from another library for you via Interlibrary Loan (ILL) Services. Before requesting an Interlibrary Loan, you need to establish your ILL account. Click Interlibrary Loan link and follow the instructions for first time users to register.

Once you have done this, you need only to log into your account to place and monitor your ILL transactions. ILL requests may take 7-10 days to fill. A paper notice will be sent to you when the book arrives.

Request an InterLibrary Book Via WorldCat

You can now initiate interlibrary loan requests for books that the PNW Library does not own in WorldCat. WorldCat Database lets you search the collections of libraries in your community and thousands more around the world.

At the WorldCat screen, type the title or keyword in the "Search for" box. Click on the title for the book you want to borrow, which will bring up a bibliographic record of the item and a number of options. Choose Send request to ILLiad. Login with your ILLiad account username and password and scroll down to Submit the Request.

Be sure the Library does NOT own this book - Before submitting a direct request, look at the WorldCat record closely. If we own the title, you will see Purdue University Northwest , Library next to the link for Libraries Worldwide that own the item.
