Help Your Students Become Better Researchers — Partner with the Library

Many students rely on Google or AI tools like ChatGPT for research, but often lack the critical skills to evaluate and use information effectively. That’s where we come in.

Librarians are experts in both research and teaching. We can help your students learn how to find, evaluate, and use sources thoughtfully—skills that are essential for college and beyond.

What We Offer:

  • Customized instruction sessions based on your assignment and goals
  • Hands-on learning, demos, and discussions
  • A tailored LibGuide linked to your Brightspace course
  • One-time or multi-session options

When & Where:

  • Best timing: When students have chosen topics and are starting research
  • Location: Library classrooms or your own space
  • Scheduling: At least one week’s notice is ideal—but we’re flexible!

Get Started:

Reach out to your library liaison to plan a session. Your presence during the session is encouraged, but not required.

Let’s work together to build your students’ research confidence and skills.

Time

Library Support for Your Course – Flexible Options

We know your time is limited, so we offer flexible ways to support your students’ research skills—no matter how much time you have. This is core to our work, and we’re happy to help!

If you have 0–1 minute:

  • Encourage or require students to contact a librarian.
  • Add your liaison librarian’s contact info and the research guide link to your syllabus.
  • Include this in your syllabus:
“Need research help? Librarians can assist with finding sources, developing search strategies, and more. Drop in or make an appointment: pnw.edu/library”

If you have 5–10 minutes:

  • Invite your librarian to briefly visit your class.
  • Request a LibGuide.

If you have 20+ minutes:

  • Schedule a library instruction session tailored to your assignment and goals.
  • Consult on designing or improving research assignments.
